Problema con mysql

Recien e instalado un freebsd virgen. Yo utilizo la versión 12.0 64bits  aunque he probado con varias  ( 93 y 11) tanto de 32 y 64 bits.  

El problema ocurre cuando instalo el mysql56 -57 siguiendo la guía:

ejecuto el comando mysql y aparece el siguiente error: 

Can not start mysql .. ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can not connect to local MySQL server through socket '/tmp/mysql.sock (2). Me tiene un buen tiempo
